Credit Unions Ranked No.1 in the Ireland Sustainability Reputation Index 2025

Cairde Credit Union is proud to share that Credit Unions have been ranked No.1 in the Ireland Sustainability Reputation Index 2025.
The annual Index, carried out by The Reputations Agency, evaluates the sustainability performance of 100 leading organisations across Ireland. Over 5,500 members of the informed public took part in the study between January and March 2025, rating organisations they were familiar with.

The Index measures four core pillars of sustainability:

Conduct
Environmental Impact
Social Performance
Workplace

These pillars are supported by 16 sustainability factors aligned with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) under the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

Credit Unions achieved a Strong overall score of 78.0, securing first place in seven of the 16 sustainability factors, including:

Supporting good causes
Fairness in how we do business
Improving the lives of people and communities
Positive influence on society

This recognition reflects the long-standing mission of credit unions as community-focused, member-owned organisations that reinvest directly in their members and local communities.

Our Sustainability Commitment at Cairde Credit Union 🌱

At Cairde Credit Union, sustainability is central to how we operate. In 2025, we took a major step toward reducing our environmental impact by installing solar panels across our premises, helping lower energy consumption and support a greener future for our community.

We continue to strengthen our ESG approach by supporting a wide range of local initiatives through sponsorships, our Community Initiative Fund, and meaningful partnerships with local clubs, charities, and community groups. Through these efforts, we aim to create long-term, positive impact across the areas we serve.
